Headlands Observatory

The Headlands Observatory sits at the northern most point of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, in Mackinaw City. Capital Stoneworks was commissioned with supply the building stone and cut stone packages for this project. When selecting material, the design team placed an emphasis on using local, regionally sourced materials. The solutions for the building stone were using Bay Harbor Stone Company’s custom blend, now called “Headlands Estate Blend”. This was a custom combination created and crafted to fit the designers desired look. Accenting the building stone with a custom cut stone package of Indiana Buff limestone, a durable and elegant façade was created for current and future generations to enjoy.
